Supervised Contact

At Gold Coast Family Centre we provide supervised contact for children and their families in a safe and secure environment. Our centre works supervises contacts for families within the Family Court Jurisdiction and the Children’s Court Jurisdiction. Our centre allows for progression of supervised time to semi-supervised time for children and their families. Our contacts are supervised by qualified staff from varying backgrounds who provide observation notes after every contact which are available via subpoena at an additional cost. We provide supervision and support from our centre in Nerang as well as out in the community at an agreed location or venue.
Families are offered an initial intake interview where they have the opportunity to have a look around, meet staff and sit down to identify any strengths, needs or concerns with their presenting family issues. We also offer play dates so children are able to familiarise themselves with the centre before visits begin.
Our supervisors are trained to closely monitor all conversations and are able to redirect any conversations where the child may feel uncomfortable or will suspend the contact if this is not possible or parents fail to follow directions from staff. Supervisors also closely monitor all physical interactions and are informed of all basic family history and any specific issues that are relevant to the supervision.
We recommend that the supervised parent provide all necessary items during the visit for the child/ren including food, water bottle, hat, sunscreen etc. We also encourage the supervised parent to plan activities for the child/ren in advance.
